John's Parents

Bob & Barbie, two of my favorite people came to visit us this weekend.
I love my in-laws, I am so thankful to have them in our lives..

Ava adores them too.

We had a really nice weekend.
Wine tasting, card playing, Spanish coffee drinking, all our usual things.



We took a walk around the duck pond next to the Hillsboro Library.



It is really beautiful there.


Bob couldn't help but pull a few weeds.
That cracks me up. I have zero desire to pick weeds. : )

Ava read 1.5 million books with Grandma.
They made each other giggle.


They played outside.

They wore each other out.

Sadly we had to say our goodbyes this morning. They will head back to Spokane and we will start plotting the next time we can see them. We miss them already. What a lovely time.

Adventures in Potty Training...

I began potty training Ava right around the time she turned one. I broke out the potty and began encouraging away. She faked interest in the beginning but soon it became apparent that the child was a little hopeless, to say the least. Throughout the year that followed I realized that this strong willed child would need a little more time, as well as mom backing the heck off. Before she turned two I came across a blog a mom was writing who made a bold statement of parents simply being lazy if they aren't potty training their kids very quickly. I was so mad about when I read that but also felt like maybe she was right all at the same time. It motivated me to simply take away Ava's diapers and sort of force her into being ready. I spent the entire day encouraging her as she had accident after accident. She managed to pee in her potty about 4 times and everywhere else about 347 times. I was so stressed out, so was she. New Pool!

We just got a new pool, the kids are pretty excited.  They've spent a lot of time playing in it already.  These were all taken right after we finished blowing it up.  : ) So much fun!

Birthday Fun

Here we have it, little chick turned 4. It was a fun day packed full of all the  things Ava loves, family, friends,  playing, eating sweets, the day couldn't  of been more perfect. Love our little four year old!! This is going to be a great year. Happy Birthday Baby Girl!
