Survived.

I have so much anxiety about the car & long trips (you may have noticed).  I think its the fact that inevitably the baby will start freaking out within the first 20 minutes, already seeming to be in a full fledged panic that we are possibly trapping them in the car for The Rest of Their Lives.

Norah was doing really great in the first 20 minutes, however then John said those words, the ones that should NEVER be said.

He looked lovingly at her in the rear view mirror, smiled & said "She is so happy!"

So of course I gave him the death glare, because really?  Haven't we learned not to curse the babies yet?

Apparently not since I just told a room full of people that my children "sleep great" on Wednesday.  It almost goes without saying that Norah woke up at 5am the next morning, ugh.

But back to the car, now Ava used to kill us on long trips.  There is nothing worse then having your baby totally freaking out & inconsolable in the backseat of your car & knowing that you still have 6 hours left.  (Well maybe a plane full of other people glaring at you in a similar circumstance)

But Ava grew out of that & actually turned into a great little traveler.  Even before we added the wonderful, amazing DVD player & now the Vtech Reader.  The most annoying thing she does is ask for endless amounts of snacks, which I'm used to, she does that on the shortest trips too, like on the way to swimming class.

But Norah is not as awesome (yet).  She already does much better then her younger self but still has that whiny-freak out thing going, where she is sure you are trying to torture her via trapping.  No matter what toy you hand her, what awesome snack, she still isn't fully convinced she is going to survive.

All that being said, now that we are happily out of the car, it doesn't seem like it was that bad, Norah actually did pretty well.  There was much more quiet & happiness then there was crying.  Maybe she is growing out of the awful traveling with babies stage?

That or more likely I have now totally jinxed her for the ride home.

But for now we are here, and so glad to be.

We were a little sad knowing that we would be not going to the old house but as we arrived we were happily greeted with the fact that John's parents now live in a much nicer house & even better yet, they are HAPPY!

So not only did we survive the car ride but I think this is going to be a really great trip.  Yay!
