Seattle Trip

It was no surprise to me when we couldn't quite make it past the casino on our way to Seattle. The car had 4 people in it, 3 that can't turn down a quick stop to win some money. The 4th being me who is happy to accommodate these desires, also I think sushi was promised...

We played Spanish 21, a form of blackjack and everyone won a little money, Linda won the most so she bought dinner. We had a nice Chinese & Vietnamese dinner including hot tea which always makes me happy. No sushi though, I guess that was just a trick...

Our 3 hour drive took us a little over 6 hours with our little stop, traffic and the downpour of rain that seemed to never let up. We just hoped it was getting it out of it's system so we could hit the town the next day with no rain.

Here we are arriving at our hotel. We stayed at The Hyatt Place, located about 3 blocks from the Space Needle. The hotel was brand new and super nice. It looked much like the pictures online aside from "the bar" which was actually just a designated part of the check in desk, they made that look a LOT more enticing on their website.

We stayed up very late playing pinochle, talking and laughing like crazy.
I love laughing so hard you cry.

In the morning we woke up to a beautiful day. The sun was
shining and Seattle was calling us out to explore.
We took the monorail over to Pikes Market:
We had to get a picture by this pig, Linda & my Grandma Bonnie
had done this in the past so we needed one too in her honor.

Disgusting gum wall in Post Ally.
Nasty gum close up.
After having a nice lunch overlooking the water we
headed back to the hotel to get ready for the wedding.
But first? Swimming.
The wedding was fabulous. It was located at The Rainier Club.
When we first arrived there was a fancy photo booth set up to get all the guest pictures taken. We were given a copy of our photo and one was attached to the guest sign in book. This was one of MANY great ideas they implemented into their wedding plans.

The ceremony was beautiful. I always try to keep myself somewhat detached from emotions during wedding ceremonies because I am super prone to crying. I don't really know the bride or the groom so I thought I would be safe. Ummm, NO. The bride's mother had died 5 years ago and they talked about that & her missing this important day in her daughter's life, totally couldn't stop crying. That is just too sad. The rest of the words spoken were the perfect mix of serious & funny. I think humor should always play a role in these kind of things.

After the wedding, we went and had appetizers and drinks. This was followed by a lovely sit down dinner. I loved how they did the tables. Everyone had an assigned seat, we were at table 6. In the center of the table the bride had attached the number 6 to a page of one of her mother's favorite books. They also had a picture of both the bride and the groom at age 6, along with each table having a photo with the corresponding age. What a cool idea!!

This picture is kind of blurry but I still like it.

Next on to dancing, here is the bride getting down:
My family loves to dance.

A rare shot of us NOT dancing:

Back to the dance floor!
They even provided flip-flops for when your heals wear out.
Another cute touch from the wedding was having Dick's burgers & fries brought out at the end of the night when people ought to start sobering up. Those hamburgers were welcomed by MANY.

We seriously couldn't drag Mom & Linda away from this wedding. They were determined to dance every song and never ever leave. I loved seeing them have such a great time.

What a great wedding!
I am so happy we decided to attend.

But that gum wall looked really, really gross.

They did great! I really wasn't worried, she was with her daddy. I was just hoping he wouldn't be too sick to deal and he rallied through it.

It was awesome!
