Saturday: Zoo Trip

What on earth were we thinking, going to the zoo
on Labor Day weekend, right before school starts,
on a Saturday???

Yeah I have no idea. The parking lot was FULL,
always a bad sign but we were meeting people there
so we forged on and actually, it turned out great!

I can't tell you how much work it was to get this bird
to eat out of my hand! Everyone else made it look easy.
Bayli, Ava, Sammy & Tracy
The girls always have so much fun together!
Penguins
They had a connection : )
See? She is one of them!
The orangutans got a new home, looked like fun.
We let the girls run through the grass,
they ran and ran and ran until they needed a rest:
This is the last shot I got before my camera died.
Pretty cute, I will take it!
We finally got to see the bird show. Two bird trainers stand
in the front showing you all kinds of cool birds, owls, vultures,
even a bald eagle! They somehow get the birds to swoop over
your head (as in about an inch away) and land on a perch
across the field. Then they call the birds back to the stage.
Ava got such a kick out of them swooping over her head!
She giggled & clapped. Every time the lady up on stage
said "Rats" a few rats would walk behind her over a stick
across the stage, that was pretty cool too.

Thanks to Tracy and Sammy for meeting up with us and
Greg & Emma we totally understand your fleeing the scene,
we almost did too. Glad we hung in there though,
even with the total over crowding of fellow zoo goers
a great time was had by all.
