Let's get REAL.

OK, half the time I feel like this blog is a lie.

Well not a lie, just a half truth.

I wonder about perception & how people see
us.  If THIS is what they are going off of
what does our life look like?

You only see what I choose to share.  And just
like in real life, I choose to focus on the good,
so you won't find much bad here.  Some may
seep in every now and then but that's just
because HOW CAN IT NOT???

But this blog?  It's not the whole story.  It's
just not.  For now, it's all about the kids.

My best friend says that everyone wants my
life, that it is perfect, that I am spoiled.

But the word spoiled implies that I am ruined by,
not lifted up by the things I am blessed with.

I am given more then I deserve.

I am so very thankful for the generosity of
the wonderful people in my life.

I am very happy, which I believe is a choice.
I choose for my focus to be on gratitude, faith,
finding the good in situations and in people,
not the bad.

This blog is a tribute to my children, these
two amazing kids I have been entrusted with,
I try to focus on cute pictures of them &
the good things happening in our lives.

But the truth is our life is not always pretty,
easy or perfect, at all.

Our house is a mess.

Our kids are fighting.

Everyone is sick.

OMG the LAUNDRY, it never stops.

Everyone is watching far too much TV.

I'm yelling like crazy, A LOT.

We are broke.

Parenting is HARD.

I'm not the mother I was hoping I would be.

I could be a much better wife too.

But these things?  And the million others
I could list?  I'm working on them, just like we
all are.

We have everything we could possible need
& more.  We are blessed beyond belief.

We don't deserve all that we have.

Prayer gets me through my fears, also my faith
& trusting that everything will work out.

So am I perfect?

Not even close.

Is our life perfect?

To me?  YES.

Because I choose to see it that way.

I want EVERYONE to see their lives this way.

I feel bad that everyone doesn't feel the same way
about their life, some people's lives truly SUCK.

But I do believe shifting your focus to gratitude,
searching for the good, & having some faith
could go a long way to make life a little happier.

I think my point here is that even though I do
lead an extraordinarily blessed life, a lot of that is
due to being able to SEE IT THAT WAY.

Oh and one more thing!

I highly recommend this: Ask for what you want,
ask for what you NEED, at least put it out there
into the universe, THIS is huge.

Ask for help, delegate, share your burdens,
people are GOOD, they want to help you!

I don't know if any of this is helpful.  I just
wanted to say that no matter how perfect things
seem over here, most of it is due to perception,
mine included.

Oh and if none of my super helpful tips work
to make you happier, you could just start a blog
where you make things SEEM really awesome all
the time, that might be the way to go.

That's what I would do.  : )

This is all so true Sarah! I know what you mean. I choose to focus mostly on the good too (on my blog especially) because I want Lillian to read it one day and realize how happy and blessed I am to have my family.
I love how you put all this...perfect!

Your perspective and choice to focus on positivity and gratitude is just one part of why you are so special. Spending time with your family is such a joy-even if there is sometimes yelling, crying, sickness, etc.

Love this because it is all so true! You choose to be happy where you are. Not everything is peaches and herb where we are, but we are blessed. I love that you open up your world to us - perfect or not!
