Easter Prep

It has been a really busy weekend for us.
We are hosting Easter for the first time ever!

We had Colton & Tiffani over to help dye eggs on Friday.

Notice how excited the kids were?

That was before they realized I wasn't going to let them touch those eggs.

If I wasn't such a control freak I might of let the kids help.
I settled for letting them watch while I quizzed them on the colors of each egg.
I know, I am mean.

These are the eggs before we decorated them.
I would show you an after picture
but really I think they are prettier before.
Lets just say I am not very artistic.

After the eggs were finished, we took the kids swimming.



They had a great time.

Since then John and I have been working like crazy to get the house ready for our 20 guests.

We did take a little break in the middle of the day to go visit the Easter Bunny.
Lets just say Ava is a huge fan.
Once I get around to uploading those pictures I will show you exactly what I mean.

I think that bunny might of even blown Elmo out of the water.

Adventures in Potty Training...

I began potty training Ava right around the time she turned one. I broke out the potty and began encouraging away. She faked interest in the beginning but soon it became apparent that the child was a little hopeless, to say the least. Throughout the year that followed I realized that this strong willed child would need a little more time, as well as mom backing the heck off. Before she turned two I came across a blog a mom was writing who made a bold statement of parents simply being lazy if they aren't potty training their kids very quickly. I was so mad about when I read that but also felt like maybe she was right all at the same time. It motivated me to simply take away Ava's diapers and sort of force her into being ready. I spent the entire day encouraging her as she had accident after accident. She managed to pee in her potty about 4 times and everywhere else about 347 times. I was so stressed out, so was she. New Pool!

We just got a new pool, the kids are pretty excited.  They've spent a lot of time playing in it already.  These were all taken right after we finished blowing it up.  : ) So much fun!

Birthday Fun

Here we have it, little chick turned 4. It was a fun day packed full of all the  things Ava loves, family, friends,  playing, eating sweets, the day couldn't  of been more perfect. Love our little four year old!! This is going to be a great year. Happy Birthday Baby Girl!
