Anniversary Beach Weekend

John & I got to sneak away for the weekend for our anniversary last weekend.  We hit the nine year mark March 4th.  : )
We decided to drive south and hike through Cape Perpetua, which is two miles outside of Yachats.
It is such a beautiful area and fun to hike in a new spot!






There is a spot here called Thor's Well, I've seen some pretty cool pictures of it online, like this one:
The tide wasn't really favorable to see it in all its glory, and you have to be a little crazy to get down there anyway so we took a pass on that one.  Good thing we have the internet to help us see it all close and pretty!

So much beauty in this world, so fun to explore it!

We were blessed with perfect weather.  

We even grabbed a bottle of wine, 2 beach chairs and our books and just sat on the beach and soaked it all in.  What a great weekend!

Adventures in Potty Training...

I began potty training Ava right around the time she turned one. I broke out the potty and began encouraging away. She faked interest in the beginning but soon it became apparent that the child was a little hopeless, to say the least. Throughout the year that followed I realized that this strong willed child would need a little more time, as well as mom backing the heck off. Before she turned two I came across a blog a mom was writing who made a bold statement of parents simply being lazy if they aren't potty training their kids very quickly. I was so mad about when I read that but also felt like maybe she was right all at the same time. It motivated me to simply take away Ava's diapers and sort of force her into being ready. I spent the entire day encouraging her as she had accident after accident. She managed to pee in her potty about 4 times and everywhere else about 347 times. I was so stressed out, so was she. New Pool!

We just got a new pool, the kids are pretty excited.  They've spent a lot of time playing in it already.  These were all taken right after we finished blowing it up.  : ) So much fun!

Birthday Fun

Here we have it, little chick turned 4. It was a fun day packed full of all the  things Ava loves, family, friends,  playing, eating sweets, the day couldn't  of been more perfect. Love our little four year old!! This is going to be a great year. Happy Birthday Baby Girl!
