13.1 x 2

I ended up running two half marathons over back to back weekends, the first one I took super mellow, knowing I wanted to put full effort into the second.  There is a huge difference in running 13.1 miles in a relaxed pace and running that same distance giving it all you've got.  Racing is HARD.  No matter how often you run.  I think people take for granted how much effort it takes to do this, they assume it's now "easy" because of all the training you've done, I assure you, it is not.
Can I just say I love my running group!?  They are such a great group of women.  I've really enjoyed getting to know them, and really look forward to building these relationships more in the future.  They are all so awesome and supportive of each other. 

Sunday morning we raced the Vancouver Lake Half, which is a flat, strange course that keeps bringing you near the finish line then takes you back out again.  Hopes up, and then...no.  But we knew that, and it was fine.  This race felt long to me, my energy was great the first 7 miles and then I got tired.  I started struggling to keep up my goal pace.  
I did hit my goal, even though I struggled the second half.  I ended up shaving about 3 minutes off my best time.  I finished with a time of 1:49:40, I'm happy with that.

The funniest thing happened at the race, this woman who had a great pace going stopped suddenly, dodging runners, all in an effort to pick up & move an earthworm off the path. The best part was these earthworms were EVERYWHERE, there were hundreds of them covering the path for miles and miles...only in Portland, haha
A big thank you to Jessica who always comes out to cheer me on, it really means a lot to me!! Best sister ever!!
